reflection.

I don’t know how to communicate with people very efficiently in social situations. Although most times I am still ‘successfully’ communicating, it rarely comes out right the first time and the other person can barely understand what I’m trying to say. It’s harder when feelings and emotions are involved. Trying to explain how I feel in the moment is something I am working on and have been since I was young. Thinking back to the school days I had where teachers would often say, “remember kids we can’t help you if we don’t know what’s wrong! make sure to tell us when you don’t understand something.” I never thought about it until recently when I started writing about my poor communication skills, but I feel the reason a lot of people miscommunicate is because they have blocked themselves from learning more.

When I was in school, I was very much a writer and wrote in journals or notebooks, even school books about my thoughts. I never once thought I could tell a teacher how I felt and they would know how to help me, let alone want to with my problems at such a young age. I am not going to blame anyone for my ability to communicate because I can unlearn whatever I have been taught. Anyone can if they truly want to, but you have to put the work in. Think about how you communicate with strangers and people you love. What’s the difference? What’s easier for you, do you know why it would or wouldn’t be?

method of communication.

If you only speak one language fluently, like myself, you may not consider moving to a place that doesn’t speak your language at all. The most realistic reason for this is because it would be hard to survive and enjoy life in a place where you can’t communicate with other people successfully. Noting the definition above, communication only happens when it is successful and all people involved are on the same page with each other. The only opposite is miscommunication which I have more experience with to be completely honest. I really believe I am better communicating through writing than speaking which I have been working on because I don’t enjoy the idea of being limited. Or being the one to put limits on my abilities and what I can learn. I often say there is always more to learn and you may see this throughout the website a lot. The reason this phrase has stuck to me is because it’s as real as it gets when you try and explain life. As much as I’ve tried to understand things that never made sense to me like school, religion, family, credit, society, the universe, nature, humans and a lot more, I will never know everything about it.

Children learn, and as adults we never stop having that child-like brain. Curious about what is unfamiliar to us; we never stop learning unless we force ourselves to stop. Convincing ourselves we know everything because it is familiar. Believing we know everything in this false reality we created for ourselves will stop us from learning more. That is why I believe the motto, there is always more to learn is important to keep the child inside me alive and ready to learn new things.

I’ve always been interested in people who speak more than one language fluently. You know those people have stories to tell because they’ve been somewhere on Earth you probably haven’t before. It just seems so wild to me how many ways to communicate with people today anywhere in the world. Speaking, writing, dancing, singing, nature, there are so many ways humans have communicated throughout time that it makes me wonder, what did they want to know? What was the reaction when humans realized they can’t understand each other but are both speaking? I am pushing myself to learn more about language and communication before I die. I realized early on that you can never know too much it’s just not possible. There is truly no way to stop learning, even if you did force yourself to stop and be a sitting duck in life, one day someone will come around and teach you something whether you asked for it or not. That is the greatest gift humans could ever give each other is more knowledge. I feel like Spiderman really took ‘knowledge is power’ to a whole new level because people are unwilling to share what they know more than they did. That’s beside the point here, that there is always more to learn.

You can decide to shut yourself off to other people’s advice and live in your own little world. You will receive and retrieve information which you have no control over when you become close-minded and eventually defensive over what you have come to believe is real. Normally people refuse to accept their own reality. I can hold myself accountable for this many of times, and I didn’t cope with it in the best way. I did what I had to do to survive. Although I was surviving, I used this as an excuse for other things I had done. Getting stuck in a fabricated world that I made up to stay alive in a bad situation. Ever heard the saying, “You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make it drink.” Relating it to philosophy,
